For the benefit of the members the society offers several regular events. An Annual Exhibition at a prestigious venue in the City of York; a series of Artist Demonstrations, several Workshops and a Self Help Group. Dates, venues and times of all events can be found in the tables below.
The Self Help Group is designed to provide members with a facility where they can meet and paint together in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. The group consists of a mix of experienced and novice painters and whilst the group does not offer tuition it does offer help and encouragement to newer members. The group endeavours to meet once a month at St Andrews church hall in Bisopthorpe. There is a charge of £6 per session to cover the cost of hiring the hall. Members are asked to bring their own art project and materials along with a packed lunch. Tea and Coffee are provided. Confirmation of the dates and times are in the tables below.
Workshops are held about three times a year where a professional artist will be invited to give a demonstration followed by a help and advice session to each delegate. At the end of the workshop you will have a picture to take home. Again the dates and times of proposed workshops are shown in the tables below.
Artist Demonstrations are held regularly at Christ Church Hall, Stockton Lane, York for practical demonstrations of a variety of media and techniques. These sessions are free to members or £5 to guests. They generally last around two hours with a break for refreshments. The dates and artists names are in the tables below.
